Tornadoes Reported in Mississippi and Alabama
Starting Tuesday late afternoon on Nov. 29 and continuing into the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 30, a severe weather outbreak impacted residents across the southeastern states of Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. Tornadoes, hail and extreme straight-line winds were reported across the region.
Multiple tornadoes touched down in Mississippi and Alabama, causing moderate but localized damage. The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center received over 20 tornado reports (Figure 1) on Nov. 29 across the two states. [1]

Initial reports from Mississippi and Alabama have indicated some localized significant damage. The NWS reported damage to homes and other structures in the areas near Jackson, Mississippi, such as Choctaw, Oktibbeha, Lowndes and Jasper Counties.1 Photos of complete destruction to mobile homes, which are particularly vulnerable to severe thunderstorms, and damage to roofs and siding have been reported. Downed trees and powerlines blocked roadways and left thousands without power.
CoreLogic Reactor™ Confirms Tornadic Activity in Southeastern U.S.
According to CoreLogic’s Tornado Verification Technology (TVT), tornadoes were observed in southern Mississippi outside Columbia, northeast of Laurel, along the Alabama state border north of Columbus, Mississippi. In Alabama, tornadoes were observed in Eutaw and north of Montgomery. The tornado paths and estimated damage probability can be visualized in the CoreLogic Reactor™ Platform (Figure 2).
